This cleverly supports the outer end of the balance tank directly on the handlebar and creates an additional abutment during lever operation.
This significantly increases the stiffness and stability, which ultimately leads to an even more direct brake feel and better controllability. Thus, the BL-M9100 is also 10% stiffer compared to its predecessor. The grip width of the lightweight XC brake lever with a magnesium housing is also individually adjustable. At first glance, the BL-M9100 brake lever has barely changed from its predecessor. From a technical point of view as well, the master piston and the mechanics were largely taken over by the M9000. However, the suspension of the lever has been fundamentally revised. The wider clamp in the center of the lever not only provides more space for remote lever attachment, it also provides significantly more rigidity. In combination with a support of the master piston on the handlebar, the brake lever offers a significantly more direct brake feel. According to Shimano, this design increased stiffness and braking power by 10% and achieved a 30% faster response. For optimal accessibility, the reach of the lever is adjustable.

XTR brake lever made of magnesium in Enduro version
At first glance, the BL-M9120 brake lever has hardly changed from its predecessor. From a technical point of view, the master piston and the mechanism have also been largely adopted from the M9020. However, the suspension of the lever has been fundamentally revised. The wider clamp in the middle of the lever not only creates more space for attaching remote levers, it also offers significantly more rigidity. In combination with a support for the master piston on the handlebars, the brake lever offers a much more direct braking feel. According to Shimano, this design has increased stiffness and braking force by 10% and achieved a 30% faster response. For optimum accessibility, the reach of the lever can be adjusted without tools.
