Shimano XTR BL-M9120 brake lever
The Shimano engineers have redesigned the XTR 9100 brake levers from a braking system that had been already the benchmark among mountainbike braking systems. For the BL-M9120 levers both the clamp and the lever body itself have been modified. The clamp moves further into the middle of the lever and is angled. This cleverly supports the outer end of the expansion tank directly on the handlebars and creates an additional counter bearing for lever actuation.
This significantly increases stiffness and stability, what ultimately leads to an even more direct brake feeling and improved control. So the BL-M9120 is 8 % stiffer than its predecessor, too. The Enduro brake lever is especially developed for use with the BR-M9120 4-piston caliper and features a tool-free reach adjustment as well as an additional adjustment option for the free travel. Servo Wave technology guarantees smooth and predictable control with the right balance of power and rigidity. Thanks to the I-Spec EV design the XTR SL-M9120 shifting levers can be mounted directly to the brake lever.
Shimano XTR BR-M9120 disc brake caliper
The Shimano XTR BR-M9120 brake caliper has a one-piece aluminium construction and ensures significantly faster response and less free travel of the entire brake system when combined with the highly rigid braking cables. In combination with the especially developed BL-M9120 brake lever the 4-piston caliper makes use of its immense potential. So the BR-M9120 offers 10 % more braking force than its predecessor. The N03A Resin or N04A Metal brake pads with cooling fins in combination with the 4-piston caliper guarantee extremely good deceleration and low weight at the same time.

Starting with a braking system that was already the benchmark among mountain bike braking systems, Shimano engineers reworked the design of the XTR 9100 brake levers. Changed were for the BL-M9100 the lever both the clamp and the grip body itself. The clamp moves further into the center of the handle and is angled. This cleverly supports the outer end of the balance tank directly on the handlebar and creates an additional abutment during lever operation.
This significantly increases the stiffness and stability, which ultimately leads to an even more direct brake feel and better controllability. Thus, the BL-M9100 is also 10% stiffer compared to its predecessor. The grip width of the lightweight XC brake lever with a magnesium housing is also individually adjustable. Thanks to I-Spec EV construction, the XTR SL-M9100-I shift levers can be mounted directly on the brake lever.
