ROUTE START & FINISH

The 240 km route offers a diverse and well-rounded challenge, catering to all the needs of a road cyclist. With 2,300 meters of elevation gain, the route starts at sea level in Muscat and features a mix of steady, rolling sections and several punchy climbs. The highest point, at 400 meters is reached at the far corner of the Arqi loop. The return point is the Wadi Dayqah Dam, and riders will tackle the famous Quriyat old road climb, which adds 240 meters of elevation gain. The course is set on a high-quality tarmac, ensuring a smooth and rewarding ride through stunning landscapes.

The 140 km route offers a balanced challenge with 1,700 meters of elevation gain, making it ideal for intermediate and endurance cyclist. The route starts and ends at the entry point of the Arqi loop approximately 50 km from the main start point of 240 km group in Qurum park. Riders will experience a mix of rolling terrain and steady climbs, with scenic highlights including the breathtaking Wadi Dayqah Dam. The well-paved roads and diverse landscape make this a rewarding ride, combining challenge with spectacular views.

Pre-Ride Briefing

  • This is not a social ride, nor a race, be respectful to fellow riders, safety first.
  • Respect the pace of the group you sign into, not too fast and not too slow.
  • If you are out of pace, wait for the slower group.
  • It is ok to go at your own pace, fast or slow at individual pace section, but let's reconvene at assembly points.
  • Lead riders will control time at the stops/reassembly points and will keep it down to a reasonable level to support descent flow and pace.
  • Respect the instruction from the lead riders or staff in the support vehicles.
  • Do not draft behind support vehicles, that is neither fair nor safe, except if you need to catch up with the group after mechanical issues.
  • Section from Quiriyat to Dayqah is narrow and twisty with traffic. Single file riding only is allowed. Always keep right and expect vehicle appearing behind the corner.
  • Stick to the route, riders that choose to deviate (e.g. by staying on the motorway on the return from Quiriyat) will be on their own without support vehicles and will not qualify to receive the Finisher's medal.

Ride Safety

  • Ride is open for normal road bikes only. No TT bikes/handlebar, no E-Bikes.
  • Each rider should wear a Helmet, front and rear lights, emergency telephone numbers.
  • Observing traffic regulations, including traffic lights is a must, unless particular crossing is secured by police that signals riders to pass.
  • Riders shall keep to the right hand side of the road.
  • Drafting behind the support vehicle is not allowed.
  • Show respect to fellow riders and follow instructions of organizers at all times.
  • Organizers will provide a rear vehicle with mechanical support for each pace group.
  • Segment from Quiriyat to Dayqah and back in a single file only, riders obliged to carefully observe traffic rules.
