We developed the Dual Action Repair for Tubeless (DART) to repair large punctures and slices in tubeless tires faster, easier, and more reliably than existing tire plugs. Unlike traditional tire plugs that attempt to press rubber strips into a puncture, dual action DARTs create both a mechanical and a chemical seal. The DART anchors into a puncture while creating a simple and safe chemical reaction with your Stan’s sealant to quickly form a permanent airtight bond. The DART’s patent pending ability to react with latex sealant makes tubeless tire repair fast, easy, and reliable for every rider.
Traditional plug tools were originally developed for car tires, and their long, sharp tips can cause damage to rim tape, or cut hands. Even worse, their plugs can actually expand many punctures because they rely on only a tight fit to hold them in place. In contrast, the DART’s sonically welded plastic tip and heavy duty woven material anchor firmly in place and stay put during even the most aggressive riding, while being safer for rims, rim tape, and your hands. The strong and flexible laser-cut material of the DART contours to different punctures and maximizes surface area sealing power. Because the DART anchors to your tire and creates a bond with your sealant, it also won’t pull out while riding the way a conventional plug can. One of the best features of the DART’s design is that it doesn’t require trimming once inserted, and excess material won’t get in the way of your ride. DARTs can’t be felt while riding, even on road tires, and they wear smooth naturally.
At only 15g complete, the DART Tool is designed to be extremely light, durable and compact to fit into pockets and packs, while offering an ergonomic design that’s easy to hold and allows precise DART placement. The DART Tool’s handle includes a built-in valve core remover, making it easy to add sealant. The tool is made of an ultra-strong but light molded plastic. Because even the small details are important, the rod that presses DARTs into punctures is made of ultralight, corrosion-resistant and incredibly strong carbon. Our Dual Action Repair for Tubeless (DART) system offers a better way to fix damaged tubeless tires. Specially treated DARTs don’t just plug large slices and punctures in your tires, they react with Stan’s sealant to form a permanent airtight bond. This Refill kit contains five DARTs and a carrier that makes reloading your DART Tool fast and easy, all stored in a compact, sealed container.
In designing the DART, we took a long look at existing plug technology and found many ways to make major improvements. Unlike large, sharp insertion tools and rubber plugs that can damage rim tape and force punctures to open even wider, DARTs are safer, easier to use and much more effective at sealing your damaged tubeless tire.
Each DART includes a reinforced, sonically welded plastic tip that anchors into a puncture securely while being safe for rims, rim tape and hands. Attached to each barbed tip is a specially shaped, laser-cut material treated with a patent pending solution that reacts with latex sealant. Continuous improvement has led to a shape and material that resists fraying and ripping to seal even difficult punctures. By being more flexible than traditional tire plugs, the material of the DART can better contour to the shape of a slice or puncture. This special material is also much lighter than conventional tire plugs and can’t be felt when riding, even on a road tire. That means a DART does not need to be trimmed after being inserted, unlike other plugs that can accidentally be pulled out in the process of riding if not trimmed. With the DART, repair is as easy as locating the puncture, inserting DART, and getting on with your ride.
Just two ounces (59ml) of Stan's Tire Sealant in a converted standard tire or a tubeless tire can seal holes up to a 1/4" instantly. One pint will convert up to 8 tires.
Stan's Tire Sealant will stay liquid in a mountain bike tire with a thin casing for two to seven months on average. Riding in arid climates or storing the bike in a hot area will require more frequent monitoring of sealant levels. Special anti-freeze agents allow the sealant to be used in environments as cold as -30°C.
For the repair of normal and tubeless bicycle tires from 12 to 29 inches. Can be used for all common bicycle valves (Schrader, Presta valve and Dunlop valves). Also suitable for e-bikes.
Special combination of active agents for first aid in the event of punctured tires. Repairs flat tires without the need for removal. Not suitable for use on tubes that ripped or cut at the side, or if the tire has slipped off the rim.
